The M13 team is made up of:
Helen Gatenby Project Manager Chris Macintosh Senior Youth Worker Gideon Thomas Youthworker Francesca Reggimenti Female Detached Youthworker Nicola Powell Assistant Youth Support Worker Becky Peters Female Detached Youthworker Mark Hewerdine Youthworker Sally Jones Administrator
Each one of us has an interesting story about how we ended up in Manchester working with M13, which is a testimony to the fact that all of us have a sense of being called; not only to the work with young people, but also to the local M13 communities and neighbourhoods within which we live and work.
Training Helen, Chris, Francesca and Becky are JNC qualified youth workers:
Helen: JNC qualified, DipHE in Informal and Community Education (YMCA George Williams College), Post-grad Certificate in Youthwork Supervision (YMCA George Williams College)
Chris: JNC qualified, DipHE in Informal and Community Education (YMCA George Williams College)
Nicola is currently undertaking an NVQ Level 2 course in Youth Work and is employed by M13 on a sessional basis, whilst she is in training. Nicola has known us since she was 16 and it is exciting for us that she is training to be a youth worker and is working alongside us.
Gideon is also currently undertaking training with the YMCA George Williams College, working towards a JNC qualification and Diploma in Informal and Community Education.
We are involved in training other youth workers to JNC standard through fieldwork placements and as supervisors to Diploma, BA and MA level for the YMCA George Williams College, De Montfort University, Centre for Youth Ministry and Chester College. We are also involved in training local volunteers and paid youth workers for churches and the Youth Service.
But most excitingly to us, in 2005 we began training 'our' local young people in youth work and informal education, at their request, and we hope to develop this work, possibly at professionally accredited level.
All youth work staff are CRB checked by the Project to enhanced level.
